Special issue: E-LEARNING FOR tOURISM

 

The impact of digital technologies on tourism and hospitality industry development and evolution has been widely acknowledged as one of the main transformation in the last decade.  Nevertheless, little attention by the academic society has been paid so far to the role played by new media in education in this field.

The aim of this Special Issue is to promote new theoretical and empirical research on the use of new technologies for training activities in the hospitality and tourism sector. The use of eLearning in hospitality and tourism field ensures quality standards within international labor market, while serving the needs of varied publics - be they tourism professionals, seasonal workers or single tourists.

A more explicit recognition of the role played by digital technologies in the training process within the industry could offer new and exciting directions for research and may help better understanding the actual needs of the market in order to enhance qualification within the tourism sector.

All types of research are invited for the application, including empirical/case studies, evaluation/impact studies, assessments, ePortfolios, etc. All contributions should be innovative and should advance the knowledge base of related fields.

 

TOPICS OF INTEREST

The major topics of interest focus on innovative eLearning techniques for tourism and hospitality sector. They include but are not limited to:

  • web 2.0 applications for knowledge sharing
  • Use of mobiles for learning

  • Learning communities management

  • Scenario based learning
  • Lifelong learning
  • Digital literacy trainings
  • Problem based learning

 

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Paper Length Articles should be limited to 9,000-10,000 words (25 to 30 double-spaced typewritten pages, or 12 to 15 pages in the final journal format). Papers are required no later than  3d April 2011

Notification of Acceptance will be provided by 20 May 2011
